help to pick one.
hi all,
Lately I have not been able to care much about photography. And I found myself in the position of making a Christmas gift to a good friend of mine and his wife. Their dog died just before the summer, and I have a picture I want to print out for them. So I had to fiddle a little with a picture I have. I really just cant decide which one they would like better. So I turn to you fellow hogs. :)
I wish I could do something about the white background, but it was a very snowy day when I took the picture. So I have three suggestions I would like have an opinion on. :)
All creative critiques and advice would be great. I just want to make a gift they would love to have hanging on the wall.
I already decided this will be printed on a A2 size canvas (42.0 x 59.4cm, 16.53 x 23.39 inches) and they are cropped, hopefully correct.
cheers
Catalin
I like 2 for the warmth of the eyes and the touch of color from the collar. I am sure one of the PP experts here can suggest or do something interesting to the background. Fine shot and gift!

Thanx for stopping by quixdraw. Appreciate your comment on it. :) that is the initial point.
I like #3. the vignetting gives him more personality. Merry Christmas!
Like #3 since I am a fan of vignetting and in this case helps to cut off some of the whiteness in the BG and helps he eyes to focus in the handsome fellow.
Something about the eyes in #2, possibly if you could get that color level/warmth in with the vignette, the vignette concentrates the point of interest
[quote=catalint]hi all,
You could have had a third picture. All black and white but select color on the eyes only. If not that one, then I like the b & W without the red color. David

I think all three are excellent Catalint. With it being a black dog the white background compliments the shot..no.3 is my choice.
I must be almost blind because the eyes in #2 and #3 are identical. But it's #3 for me.
Thank you all for the replies.
I like nr2, but I felt like, on the wall it will not look as good as with little vignetting.
the eyes on pic 2 and 3 should be the same, since the vignetting was applied just after without any other modifications.
I am interest to try Mieves's idea. B&W with selective color on the eyes. Just to see it. but for now I think I will most likely hold on to nr.3 :)
Thanx again and Happy Holiday's to you all :)
    #3 bright white background in 2 washes out the eyes to me
I'm partial to #2. Lovely shot.
No. 3 for me. I think the collar colour and eye colour would be an important part of the owners' memory and the vignetting gives substance to the background. I am sure your friends will be very pleased to hang this on their wall, I would if it had been my dog.
Number three-- the vignetting makes the photo. I don't see much difference in the eyes between the second and third. It's the one I'd like to have to remember my dog by.
