Floating windows in PSE14

Has anyone tried this yet?

I have the floating windows checked in the Preferences and the Cascade view in the panel below the Editor, and I'm using the "Expert" mode--that's a bit misnamed in my case :) , but.... If I open two photos, both show up in the editor, but only one is selected; if I select the second, the first goes "in active" (greyed out).

I also tried dragging the second out of the open files panel view and it just stacked the second on top of the first. I couldn't select either one to work on it. I've also tried 'dragging' with several other commands: Shift, Ctrl & Alt--nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong? The floating windows work in PSE 10.

Any help on the "trick" to get them both floating would be appreciated. Thanks.

Open both. Tools upper... Windows/Images/Tile
You can Clone one to the other.

Once you master that, you learn layers. You can use layers and like a program such as ... Topaz-Remask and select Aunt Sally's head from one photo and move her to the photo were she wasn't (perhaps put her head on some gal on the beach) ... then merge. Next give the photo to Uncle Joe and watch the fur fly.

Be sure to photograph that fight!!

Do both files have the same name ? Rename one of the files because you can't open the same file twice.
