I love the color you captured on his back. I have noticed that before but it is usually not caught in photos. Nice set.

I have this picture in my head of your house surrounded with a set of critters which changes to a new set each day so that eventually every one on the planet will have passed before your lens.

Once a butterfly ecloses, and stretches its wings, in never grows bigger or longer. This butterfly will never appear different than it does now.

I believe this is a Dorantes skipper (Urbanus dorantes) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urbanus_dorantes , which has shorter tails than the Long Tailed skipper (Urbanus proteus).

yes,its a Dorantes longtail skipper, I looked at lots of pics and most had pretty long tails, some like mine, had shorter tails

May have lost them, may be an aberration, or a bird got them. But after eclosure and drying the wings do not grow.
