I have a Minolta 101 camera with an assortment of lenses. I am looking at buying a Sony camera and would like to know if I can get an adopter so I can use my lenses with a Sony camera.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice.

There are adapters available to put your older Minolta MC or MD Lenses on auto focus Minolta and Sony interchangeable lens cameras. you can usually find them on EBay or Overstock.com. You need to look for MC/MD to Sony/Minolta A mount adapters. I am a long time Minolta and Sony user, and am not familiar with a Sony 101 camera. I'm wondering if you are taking that # from your Minolta film camera.

Which Sony camera are you thinking of getting?

The SRT-101 was introduced in 1966 and the series still reigns as having one of the best viewfinders made. It was designed for MC lenses.

I still occasionally still shoot my 201 - when my grandson isn't using it.

I was thinking about the Sony Alpha a6000. It's light and easy to carry around and hopefully I can use my lenses and filters. I would get the body only.

Thank you so much for the information. A while back I went to a camera store and was told that they didn't think there was an adopter for the 101. Now I will look for the right adopter.

Again, thank you

Did you ever hear of Hoada Fu adopters? I read something on the internet that he had the adopters, but the latest post was dated around 2007.

Call someone like B&H or Adorama to see what's available and the pricing.

Since the A6000 is a thinner body, you will either need 2 adapters (MC to A & A to E) or a Metabones MC to E. In either case you will be using your Minolta lenses completely manually(aperture & focus). If this isn't a problem, you're set. Actually, you may be able to use the aperture-preferred auto exposure mode.

I bought the A6000 to use my Minolta SRT-101 lenses. They work great. I usually use aperture priority mode and the A6000 sets ISO and shutter speed. The A6000 is a "1.5X crop camera" so the lens focal length is effectively 1.5X longer. My 35mm lens is now my normal lens. It's actually easier to manually focus the A6000 with "focus peaking" than it is with the 101. You just need a cheap Rokker MC/MD mount to Sony E-mount adapter. This is the one I bought on Amazon:
"Neewer® Lens Mount Adapter for Minolta MD MC Lens to Sony NEX E-Mount Camera,fits Sony A6000 A7/A7R/A7S/A7II NEX-3 NEX-3C NEX-5 NEX-5C NEX-5N NEX-5R NEX-6 NEX-7 NEX-F3 NEX-VG10 VG20 etc."

I recommend that you also get a kit lens with your A6000 (not just the body). It's a fine camera, and you may eventually tire of using the old, heavy Minolta lenses.

I always like the manual mode. I find manual focus a lot easier.

Yes; you lenses would work on an A6000 with adapters and you would get really beautiful images.

Sony E mount cameras are MADE for legacy glass, and your Minolta lenses will work well with adapters, some of which start as cheap as $12.

Good luck!

BTW, the SRT 101 was one of my FAVORITE cameras.
