This is a view of Grandfather Mountain, NC at sunset take from the back deck of a friend's home. Look to the upper left in the image to see the face. Download for best viewing. What a view...

That's stretching the imagination a bit to call this a view of Grandfather Mountain. I live here and I'm having trouble picking the mountain out of all those layers :) You must have been really higher in elevation to the west to get his awesome view.

Gorgeous color and view! Super shot, Dave. You clearly have better friends than I do, as no one I know has a view like this!

Well, as photographers we should have some imagination! ;)
Actually his house is a bit northeast of GM. I had just arrived at his house on Saturday JUST after the sun had set over the range. Grabbed camera and tripod and headed for the deck overlooking this awesome view almost before the car stopped rolling. If you look at the download you can see the face in the upper left part of this image. It is admittedly pretty small.

Thank you for your visit and comments.

Hi Randy. Yes, I always enjoy this view no matter how many times I see it. We get together every year when the leaves start changing colors to do a couple of days of shooting. I was very fortunate to catch this scene before the light faded away. Thanks for your comment and visit. Always appreciated.

I'll try to do better :) :)

You did capture a beautiful evening. Do you know the name of the road visible down in the valley?? Looks like you're deep into the boonies and dirt roads where you were. I know that's off the beaten path :)
