One of my favorite lenses for my D750/800 is the Nikon 24-120 f4. This is my walk around lens for most shots. Now my D7100 body will get the new Nikon 16-80mm f2.8/4 which, of course on my D7100 comes in at 24-120. The new lens comes in with a 4 stop VR, a unique lens hood which is straight sided which will allow me to set the camera down on it's short end without falling over, and has N coating. Thanks Nikon.

If it is new, are there any reviews or ratings yet? I've been looking for a good walk around lens that is also real sharp. Gradually learning to accept every lens I have does not need to be real fast, especially with VR.
I've been waiting for the next update of Nikon's Capture NX-D software. The current version doesn't have the lens distortion correction profile for the new 16-80mm f/2.8-4. The lens has significant barrel and pincushion distortion. I'm sure they'll have the lens profile in the next update of the software.
I read a review two days ago in one of the daily updates that finds its way into my email. (of course, I deleted it) The review was extremely helpful in confirming that I made the right choice to purchase it.
The lens at wide open is so fast, it actually presented a learning curve when shooting fireworks and other fire related activities in manual.
I love everything about it. I had never made a purchase of brand new technology until I hear about its performance. For some reason, I bought this baby immediately after the announcement. Love it, Love it, Love it!
