Your camera may not have live view, or its not on. If it does not have liveview, take a picture while you have the remote button pressed. Then you should see, or not see it in the image review.
If you do this be sure to set a aperture around 2.8, and a slow shutter speed like 1.5 seconds or so. Also use the lowest ISO you have.

I thought I had a couple of photos to post with my inexpensive IR rig, but instead these two images come from my Fuji IS-1, an IR dedicated camera (built to shoot IR at the factory).
Unfortunately the IS-1 has a 'hot spot' (lighter exposure area in the center of an image) that shows up unpredictably, but more often than not, in portrait mode. Here is what the IS-1 can do without a hot spot.

I started to mention the "Hot Spot" thing before, and forgot about it. Some lenses are notorious for this, you can find a list by Googling IR hot spot. I think all lenses under the right conditions, will show this phenomenon at times.
It has nothing to do with the sensor, and even the lens itself, but is a product of "Lens Flair". A really good lens can have this problem, manufactures do not properly prepare their lense coatings for IR, as it is not a normal function. And it would be a needless expense for them.
So that is another crap-shoot doing IR with a digital camera, your lens may not have this problem, then it may and there is nothing to be done about it. :thumbdown:

When you do get your IR rig up and running I strongly suggest going to a cemetery as cemeteries and IR go together like PB&J
Here's a few cemetery shots, of course it doesn't hurt to have a really great cemetery to shoot :-) These are from Bonaventure Cemetery Savannah GA.

We have an old cemetery here in WNC, that contains graves from the Civil War, and before. Bur it doesn't have those great creepy hanging moss covered trees, of the deep South. :)
I have been planning on making a trip to take some photographs, but I probably wont get there before next summer now. :( This one has some of those creepy, Dracula type Moslems in it also. :)

That would be the one. There are also several more scattered around the Asheville area, but Riverside is pretty well nationally known.
The cemetery where my dad is buried, has a few unique monuments in it. There is an old preacher buried there, that has a 100 ton rock from the river for a tomb stone. It broke down several wagons, getting it to the graveyard.
I'm going to try to get around to several of the graveyards, and take some pictures both IR and color. I hope to get to a few before the weather gets too cold, but it looks like we might get an early winter here.

I took a day off this weekend, I work weekends, and went to an antique tractor show and pull. This year I was a lot more selective and just photographed the more interesting tractors and not every single one, like I've done in years past.
On the way home I stopped at one of scenic overlooks and put together a few panos too.
