B&H has the new Nikon 200-500 mm f5.6 for 1399.00 but it is currently out of stock. 42nd street photo has the same lens listed at 1999.99 with a 100.00 off for a sale price of 1899.99. (they are currently saying they have it in stock and it is ready to ship) I guess if you want it you got to pay the price they are asking. Reminds me when a new car hits the market, some retailers have added costs to the newly released car adding sometimes thousands of dollars to the car. If you want the car, you got to pay the price. If memory serves me correctly, 42nd street photo is NOT an authorized Nikon dealer, which means you are likely buying a grey market lens from them, with all that entails.

isn't that lens a touch pricey?
Nikon authorized dealers have to sell within a narrow price range. Unauthorized shops can charge what the traffic will pay.
When the Mazda Miata first came out some dealers doubled the price or had auctions.
Demand was high. Availability was low...
But you have to add in the cost of a substantial tripod. :D

Do a search on 42nd St. Photo. You will find they are a scam outfit.
