LifePixel for $275 will remove the AA filter from a D800. Has anyone tried this?
Sell your camera and get the D810. These appear to have been priced down $500.00 that and the $250.00 you save will bring the purchase price to $ 2250.00.... Minus your camera sale price.

HI,
I don't have a D800 and also no experience with removal of an AA Filter.
The AA filter reduces a little bit the sharpness to avoid moire.
But in the internal signal processing this minor reduction will
be considered. If the filter is removed the signal processing didn't
know it and may be this has a negative influence to the picture results..
I would not do it....

I think this makes the most sense. Perhaps wait for 820

Sell the d800 and buy a used d800e. AA filter already remove, and quality on par with d810. Less $ too.
