I have a bunch of PDF files and some photos that I want to combine into 1 'book' that I can print out. any ideas on how to do this? I though I could use word, but it looks like I'd have to upgrade (since insert object does not show as an option on my version of word).

of course I could try just sending everything to my work computer, but I'm trying to avoid that.

any help would be very much appreciated

thanks,
Janyce

There are softwares to turn PDF's into Word which at least allows you to pull the parts out of the document and paste into another "booklet formatted" word doc.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=pdf%20to%20word%20free

yeah, I looked at a bunch of them, but they are only "free" after you agree to take it on a trial basis...and give them a credit card. haha

I would visit COSTCO, they have a special running on booklets. Quality of prints are excellent.

Adobe Indesign is made for this type of application.

If you have PSE (and I would think PS as well), you can already open pdf files, or save your photos as pdf.
I once did save a document of several pages (very tall and skinny document) as a pdf file from PSE, can't remember the size in mb now, but it was huge.
For simply saving documents, I use a free program "PDF Creator" installed and used like a printer. The same company ( http://www.pdfforge.org/ ) also has a program called PDF Architect. There's a free version, or you can buy versions with more options.
I don't use that one, so can't tell you exactly what it does or doesn't do.

FWIW. If the pictures are embedded in PDF files, then you might want to try this ...

.....TURN the PDF image 90ยบ, if necessary ...

.....CAPTURE the image using a Freeware program such as SCREENHUNTER ...

PROCEED.

I have done dozens of these type books and the best way is to create the book is in adobe InDesign, which is used by most magazine publishers. You can turn it into a PDF in a couple clicks and print it if want to. It gives you ultimate control over everything. Do not use MS Word ; it is a terrible layout program. A cheaper alternate to InDesign is MS Publisher, which is probably 25% as good, but good enough for most personal work. Creative suite by the month is $50 mo but you can use about 25 high end programs or get a copy of Publisher for less. Again, avoid Word, you will be frustrated by layout lack of quality in word, which is great for ordinary text. If you are interested, contact me and I can provide you a couple samples on drop box to see what can be done. I have been doing layout design for over 50 years now. good luck.
