From the examples in the article, it seems iPhone 6 camera is only marginally better than the previous version. However, there may be significant advantages concerning more advanced apps available for iPhone 6.
50% more pixels (12 now instead of 8) for bigger prints or more cropping room
5 MP front-facing camera (instead of 1.3 MP) for better selfies
4K video recording
Live Photos feature saves 3 seconds of video from before and after each still image is captured. You can play back "photos that move" like the wall portraits in the Harry Potter movies
Many other internal improvements include:
Beefier case that won't bend, made from aircraft grade 7000 series aluminum
Better taptic engine for tactile feedback
Better interface features with 3D-Touch (pressure sensitive screen for peeking into files and popping them open, etc.)
Better multi-band radios for world-wide network compatibility. Advanced LTE is up to twice as fast, and WiFi with MiMo can be twice as fast, too, if your base station supports it.
70% faster 64-bit processor with double the RAM AND a 90% faster graphics processorÂ… This translates to great game playing experience, smooth 4K video capture, and overall great snappiness.
There are many other small changes. Because the new 's' phones have new hardware in them, iOS 9.0.1 does many things on the new phones that cannot be done on the old phones.
If you watch the keynote speech on Apple.com (where they introduced their new products at Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco), you'll see a performance graph comparing the earliest iPhones with the latest. The largest performance jump has been from the last phones to the current phones. At this point, the curve is pointing almost straight up. I was impressed with my 4s in 2011. I'm sure I'll be blown away by the difference the 6s Plus makes.
