I know this isn't anything special or artistic - it's just my initial attempt at getting some of my shots from the other night into one photo.
What I found so amazing was the utter lack of light during the full eclipse. My rig works great for moon shots but shutter speeds were so slow and ASA so high that I couldn't get anywhere near the quality I'd hoped for during the "blood" phase.

I like it, excellent work.
Well, I just looked at the download and it's pretty terrible. Oh well, I'll only be 91 when the next one comes along so maybe I can do better then. :)
Thanks, Angler. Kind words are always welcome.

Ron,
I like this view of the eclipse. Well done!

Nicely done. Not criticizing, but I see you had trouble getting a sharp image, too. I tried 3 lenses. 1st, my Sigma 18-300, then the Sigma, 17-70, and finally decided on my Nikkor 50mm f/1.8. Shoulda switched back to the 18-300 but I ran out of time...it started.
Took 700 pictures with my remote timer because I set it to take a shot every 60 seconds. However, it shot off about 10 images every 60 seconds.
Your background is a great enhancement to the whole presentation.
Would you mind explaining what you did to get the multiple images in one picture?
Farkle, ebbote, GWR100 - thanks for the nice comments.
Indi - wow, that's a lotta pics! I used my old PSElements and created a blank page that was 12000x8000 pixels in size (that let me copy full sized images). That layer I made solid black. Then I did the copy and paste routine for the images I wanted (each onto separate layers) and arranged the images in order. I then created an additional layer on top that I used to "spray paint" the background color around each moon to get rid of the ragged edges I got when I used the lasso to define what I wanted to copy/paste. Finally, I flattened all the layers into a single layer and saved as jpeg. Wish I'd looked to see how big that file had grown before doing the jpeg. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Ron.
I'm not using all 700 + images. In fact, there are at least 4 duplicates of each image because every time the timer triggered the shutter there would be a burst of shots.
I'm deleting all duplicates; more than half way through. Down to about 250 unprocessed images and still working.
The folder I'm exporting the processed images to had about 95 of the 500 PP'ed images and I've even eliminated some of them.
After I get down to the ones I want to keep I'll try what you did.
I should have stayed with the 18-300 near max.
Oh, well. I can improve in 20 years, I guess.
Excellent composite! Something to be proud of, especially with all of the PP work.
Thanks, MtManMD. I appreciate the positive comment.

If you still have all the pics, maybe try doing a timelapse, I would love to see it
