I have only been a member of this forum for a month now and have posted a few questions.
Your advice has helped so,oooooo much I thought I needed to thank you all.

My posts .
1. Digitizing old photo's. I will buy an Epson scanner as most of you recommended.
2. What tripod. I have just purchased a Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod and a used 498RC2 Ball Head to fit on it.
I used it last night for some sunset photo's, it was so stable. Shame about the photo's !
3. Spots. I now take the UV filter off when shooting into the sun.

Just one problem, I joined this forum to help me learn more about my new hobby and have found that the more I learn the less I know!!
The attached photo's are proof.

Critique please & please go easy on me I am new to this!

Thanks again to all you Hogger's out there.

Did you perhaps leave vr on even though you were shooting on a tripod?

This will probably seem a dumb question, but what is vr and why would it make a difference when the camera is on a tripod?

Geo,
vr means Vibration Reduction and is built into many lenses these days to counteract "camera shake" when hand-holding your camera....when you shoot from a tripod, there won't be camera shake, so you turn off this feature in the lens, otherwise it "hunts" for vibration to counteract and you can end up with slightly blurry shots even from a tripod....I'm new at this too, so if anyone can offer a better explanation, please chime in.....
