Thank you. I guess about 6". I used a 50mm macro lens with a 12mm extension tube.

I believe Tom is referring to 6-inched Working Distance (WD) between lens front element and subject, and not focal distance, which is between sensor plane and subject. Big difference!

Nice! Those are fun to watch when they capture a meal. The web they weave is not very pretty, but it is effective. If you get a chance to see them tie down a bug before they give the final bite, watch, it is interesting and it does not take too long.

i was standing a few feet away when this dragonfly hit the web.i saw it all.tom

That was cool wasn't it? It's interesting the way they cautiously approach the victim, quickly tack it down with some web and run away, and do it over and over until the capture is secure. Nice shots you got of the action!

this one wasnt a bit cautious,she was on it like a flash and spun him up quickly then bit him.i am glad the dragonfly came along,she was probably sizeing me up.tom
