This is one of my attempts at HDR. I'm ready, critique away. I will enjoy hearing where you think it can be improved.
It was done with Photomatix Pro.

I think you carried it a bit too far. Looks overcooked and unrealistic. jmho. djt

Thanks for looking djtravels. I think that I will toss it back in the "oven" and see how it comes out a second time. I have heard this before but I liked it so much it's on my wall.

Hey, if you like it, that's what counts in a photograph. That's what makes the world go round.

It looks like you intended for it to be not "real" and I really like it too!

The only thing I wish is that you'd aimed the camera up a bit, instead of down, so that there is a little more breathing room at top. But otherwise, the final crop with all those rock details, color and whimsical feel are very appealing!

I thought I must have my rose - tinted specs on. Then I saw the halo down the side of the lighthouse. Nice Pic, but needs pulling back for me.

But, what does reality have to do with it... Amatooch has told a story... his impression, his water color, the world "raw" is often dull, "overcooking" adds flavor and zest to both food and fotos...

Yes - you are quite right - I must stop thinking that everyone should think like me. :-)

Yes, the judges at the TBCC, club, know it is my image being projected for anomalous judging, they can smell the aroma of overcooking. Mine are typically entered in the "Altered Reality" category.

Delderby, go ahead and checkout Jixipix, DAP (dynamic autopaint), and of course Topaz (Glow 8-) to be used sparingly). None contain salt, but they are genetically, and mind altering additives. :D

PS: I really like you photo .... crisp, bright and suppressed background.

I can see where some think it is overcooked; however, what you did brings out the sky to look like early morning as well as much more detail in the foreground. In a normal HDR of this image I think the sky would still be non-descriptive and not add to the ambiance of the image. The final test is do you like it? That is what counts.

I agree with you - the extra detail is great - but the colour seems far from natural.

Yes that is perhaps true. Maybe save the sky from the cooked one and back down on the saturation on the lighthouse and foreground.
