Looking for high key image with light from the back but I think the flower is too bright to work with. I'll try again with something somewhat darker.

I think the soft approach is very appealing. The lower half is more attractive than the upper, which is less detailed. I wonder if you posted the original for comparison if we might be able to offer more feedback. I don't think the subject is too bright, you want it light enough to offer some translucency I suspect. Is this natural light you're working with or some sort of interior lighting setup? The more we know, the more we can offer. For instance, I don't know a darned thing about flash and studio lights, but I can talk a while about natural light. Someone else might be the exact opposite.

Tell us a bit more...

And if you're willing, check the Store Original box beside the upload box, so we can see your image a bit larger.

I'm not exactly sure I understand what you are after but I will defer to minniev's comments for now.

I can see where you are headed and I think your next attempt will come closer.

The issues I see with this version are that it is cropped a little too tight and the lighting does not seem natural because there may be too much post processing (halos) in the background.

A soft light and a smooth poster board for background should be enough. Then all you need is a subtle vignette along the edges and corners.
