Took this shot it will not be around much longer. The stones texture caught my eye. Thoughts and suggestions. I did some cropping and some some lighting of the shadows

Would it be okay if we compared it to the original and do you know the history of the building? S-

I'd like to see a crop, bottom up to the rocks. I don't think the grass foreground adds anything. Then maybe a little more contrast in the building to bring out the individual stones more.

I might go even a bit further in cropping than Neil, with just a bit of the foreground rocks showing.

Was it the stone textures of the building you're referring to as being of interest or the whole scene? Can you discuss your choice of including the foreground?

Thanks!

I do agree with Neil regarding a need for increased contrast - particularly mid-tonal/steeper gamma in the lower half of the HD "straight line" - as well as cropping out the FG grass.

It's a strong image that calls to mind the originally positive connotation of the term "cobbled together" meaning to have made something substantial out of what was at-hand.

Might also try a right-side crop to move the door a bit to the right, but either way, I really like this image!

It calls to mind a personal experience.

In the late 1950s I was hired to help a neighboring farmer dismantle an old stone house cobbled of field stone. While we were eating lunch the first day the normally chatty, voluble guy went strangely silent. Then he said, "That was built for the ages!" He had the cedar-shingled roof we had dismantled re-built and re-roofed with locally guarded slates salvaged from a previously leveled building. It was still standing when I visited the area three years ago.

Yeah! I like this image!

Here is my rendition (everybody has one), of your photo. Attached also, the Lightroom Basic settings used.

Thanks, I am liking what you did with the sky. Making the blue a little bluer. The cobblestones look to be a tad bolder too. I don't have Lightroom but i can see the difference it made on this shot

I didn't think I had a need for Lightroom until I was informed it did better on RAW. Since I got it, I find it is the go-to, RAW or JPG, with PSE to take care of details

I still think Lightrooms file management system really sucks.
