The flower is less than an inch across. I was using an old Nikon SB-21 flash with the AS-14 Macro Speedlight Controller for lighting. These things work pretty well on a newer camera, but does not do iTTL. I found this one sitting in the used camera shop down the street for $50.

Your flower is well-defined, and well-rounded. Your lighting set-up did an excellent job of illuminating this macro-photograph. Please consider posting a photo of your mounted Nikon AS-14 Macro Speedlight Controller w/SB-21 Ring Flash.

Here's the D300 with the SB-21 and AS-14 mounted.

And here it is with a Yuzo DC2814 ring flash with the Nikon adapter on the hot shoe mount. Also found it in the local used camera store for about $75. The only problem with the Yuzo is I have been unable to find the trigger voltage, so I shoot it using a Wein Safe-Sync to insure a low voltage.

Both units work well and using them in manual mode isn't a problem.
