I finally got me 430 ex and O-Flash 3/4-circle flash adapter. I have not had time to really try it out except a few shots. It seems like manual is going to be better, but I would like hear what others are doing. Any tips will be welcomed. I tried to find some thing on You Tube but did not come with that answer.
My O-Flash is attached to a Nikon SB-600 speedlight, so you will need to adapt my usage to your speedlight settings.
My speedlight is set on Manual, and normally at 1/1 (full output). My lens aperture is normally set to f/22.
When the subject is light colored, I adjust my speedlight output to 1/2 (1/2 power), or even 1/4 (1/4 power).
Do not forget to return speedlight output to full for most subjects.
For dark colored subjects, I open aperture to f/16, or even f/11 at full power speedlight output.
Thanks for the reply. I went out yesterday eve. around sunset and played around some. My biggest problem turned out to be able see the object clear enough to get good focus in low light. I have thought about using one the small pocket lights see the focus more clearly. Is there a better answer to the problem. I was taking some pics of Barberry bush buds and they are smaller than the end of kitchen match.

Enough light for viewing is always a problem in low light situations. Best to learn macro focusing in bright sunlight, no matter what illumination you have. Practice, practice, practice, in all lighting conditions.
