Here's a male black widow that was taken early last summer. I use a Canon 40D, with 100mm macro.

Because I"m such a novice, I use the blind hog method - and after countless tries I occasionally pick up an 'acorn'.

Male Black Widows are much smaller than female Black Widows, who earn their name by eating the male after copulation.

Yes. They're really quite different in size - and color. Here's a pic of the male above, along with the female he was 'courting'.
