A Wolf spider, I believe.
The palps (short front legs used for mating) are in focus, but just missed focus on the eyes.

It was running at me and and being I have manual focus lens could not keep up with him.

They are nasty biters!!! I would of been screaming and vacuming with your wife!!! Brave great shots!

Yep, it's a Wolf spider! Nice shots. When I lived in Florida my oldest son would try to catch them. They are fast and jump around a lot. Luckily he never got bitten.

Loved your spider pics. These guys are really fast, and getting them to stay still long enough to get a photo is an accomplishment in itself.

When I see them, I just pick them up, and toss them outside.
Callouses on my hands are deep enough, I'm not affected, I guess.
My wife did this about a year ago, and one of the gave her a nasty bite.
She said it hurt for several days. I believe her, I could see the bite on her palm.
Now she smashes them on sight.
