I deleted pix I thought I had transferred to my laptop. I cant find them and am hesitant to pay $25-$100 for recovery software to recover 3 pix. Soooo does anyone know of a free recovery software I can use that is really free? I used the rescuepro from the back of my new sd card but it will only give me access to the first 25 files and of course the ones I need are not in that first 25! Appreciate any help!

Yes, I also use recuva. It is said to be the best free recovery software. And it is easy to use and effective.

About the best are testdisk and photorec

http://www.cgsecurity.org/

cross platform windows linux and osx

best used on an image file (easy to create on osx and linux) so you are guaranteed to be able to rewrite file system errors.

It's a rock solid program and i've been able to use it to recover files on usb sticks sd cards that wouldnt mount and otherwise unreadable.

good luck.

Sign up for www.giveawayoftheday.com and many times they have offered "for pay programs" for free during a 24 hr bracket. Recovery programs have been featured many times.

This is a safe site... and the contributing companies do so for comments from computer experts... the programs are reviewed. I get perhaps five a year... worth while.

For now, are there any that offer trial periods?

I also used Recuva and it worked pretty well for me.. I was moving images that on my old 1TB drive to a new 4tb drive and messed it up. Recova got back about 90% of the 800 megabytes of images and files so that I could transfer them correctly..UNFORTUNATLY, it DID NOT put them back into the correct folders but into a folder called recovered or something like that. So, I had to re-import them into Lightroom after the recovery/transfer. But, that wasn't the software's fault but my own stupidity and inexperience.
