Sometime to compensate for the limitations of a particular lens, you need to focus with your feet. I wanted to capture this wide angle shot of Pt. Betsie Lighthouse and ended up backing up all the way into Lake Michigan.

To my daughter's credit (offspring of an avid photographer), she was not texting to her BFF but was checking out the results of a photo she had just captured on a P&S camera. Like father like daughter. Now if I could just teach her to recharge her batteries more often .....

I like this one, Bob. An interesting scene to start with, and inclusion of your daughter's distraction makes it even more fun.

I hope you had the sense to stop backing up before it got too deep, lol!

Really nice as usual Bob. Your daughter makes the composition and I love the detail of the painted brick.

Wonderful shot Bob... Thirty years ago you could say she was reading Shakespeare or a poem by Robert Browning! Funny how our preconceptions change!

Randy, among other things I wanted to post a photo that might help you with a decision to post one of your own in a photorealistic manner.

Thanks Snappy. If Aubrey hadn't been in the photo, I think I would have kept my feet dry and shot the lighthouse from a different angle. I don't know how we lucked out in getting the place all to ourselves, but I thought I'd better take advantage of it while I could.

Thanks lenf. The Pt. Besie Lighthouse is a fairly popular place for photographers to congregate. I have seen this portrayed by other UHH photographers just recently.

Thanks much Michael. Hmmmmm, if we were to extrapolate 30 years into the future, what do you think people will be doing then?

Thank you Jan. It's also the kind of place I like to visit again and again because I "see" it differently each time I go.

Great shot and PP Bob; your daughter in the photo really adds to the realism of this one. :-D

Thanks Jim. A lot of photographer's make it a point to capture this lighthouse while they're in the vicinity. I wanted to give it a sense of scale so I asked my own budding photographer daughter to make an appearance.
