the letters aren't looking too pixelated on my screen and I have a HUGE screen. If you are viewing at over 100% they might be, but I would think that has to do with the upload tool here on UHH not you. So don't worry to much about it.

She is a cutie (man I miss this age, not the waking up at 2 in the morning but the cute cuddly part).

I think you did a pretty good job, especially with a wake baby. You did miss focus on her eyes ever so slightly. Do you know what your settings where?

In the first one the focus looks to have fallen on the on her sleeve of her shirt, see who you can see how the stitching on the cuff is nice and crisp?

#2 the focus fell on the blanket just in front of her ear. The detail is nice and clear there.

The third one I am having a hard time finding where the focus fell, looks like it might be an all over soft shot. The settings will be able to tell if it was camera shake or not.

It's a great start, it looks like you are trying to shot wide open (we all fall into that trap), using a smaller aperture maybe somewhere around 3.5 until you are nailing focus 95% of the time, then dial the aperture up a stop until you master it there, slowly move your way to shooting wide open, you'll be there before you know it.

* little hint - while shooting wide open is tempting, if you are shooting wide open with the 50mm 1.8, you are only allowing for a 0.2 feet total depth of field if the subject is less than 5 feet from you. That means you have to have your focus spot on, any camera shake or if the subject even moves 1/2 an inch you are going to lose your focus.

I'll add to watch out for shadows as in the first one. The head band flower is casting shadow on the face.
I like these!!!

I like the third one best, little bubble blower :)...she seems more relaxed. Very hard to get a relaxed awake baby...tried this yesterday and wow NOT easy for sure. Keep up the good work...

Only my thoughts obviously from the comments here, but I find in 1 & 2 the headband and large flower are too distracting. Ahhh, but with number 3 the eyes and the bubbles make it..... this comment is from a guy that has been taking photos since the old 'Box Brownie' days ~ and I still haven't taken a baby shot that I like!
