On dragonfly, your focus is fine, but the busy background makes the image quite confusing. I know how impossible it is to control insects, but a diffuse background is one factor in a strong insect image.

Your butterflies look fine. Do NOT be afraid to crop-out excess background.

He would not land anywhere that was colored differently so I had to take what he would give me he was also one of the dullest colored Dragon Flies around here.

Great images! How do you get so close. They always fly away when I get that close. Do you wear camo?

Both my Nikkor 105-mm and my Nikkor 55-200 zoom, give me the reach to shoot living dragonflies at about 3-feet WD, then crop.
