Hey all,

I know I may not have much luck, but figured it was worth a try. I am looking to purchase CS5 for my son, who is at the tech high school taking graphics arts, and my daughter who just loves to edit her photos. Don't have alot of money to spend, just curious if there was anyone who might be upgrading that would want to help us out. Thanks in advance.

Wayne

Wayne, many of the stores like Best Buy, Staples , etc now sell educational versions (fully functional) where you just need a student id. Just a fraction of the cost for the full retail package.

Worth checking out!

G'day Consider Student copy but go for CS6. If you do apply for this be prepared for Adobe to take for ever in giving you the key after purchase.

Yesterday Johnii999 wrote: Adobe is offering a free beta version of CS6, probably timed. Be aware, it is huge. I have a slow satellite connection and it took over 12 hours to download. It is 1.7GB!

I didn't download it, but it may be worth a look-see.

I am a teacher so I was able to purchase Lightroom 4 for $79.00 - full version from Adobe directly or check out this sight
http://www.academicsuperstore.com/products/Adobe/Creative+Suite+Design+Premium/1501963. You will need to have some proof that they are in school.

Don't let the OP's 12 hour download alarm you. We just downloaded the file in 40 minutes. Will check it out later. I have never had CS so there will be a learning curve, I'm sure.

Go for the CS6. I just downloaded the beta in 20 minutes. Then do the educational version.

Definitely do the student/teacher version.
I also purchased LR3 with a letter from the director of the Adult Ed program I teach for. $79 instead of $299!
It took less than a day to get the license key back from Adobe once I sent my documentation.

Sounds like you would be eligible for the Education Discounted full PS CS5 for $199 ( two installs)

For info see: http://www.phototips.biz/2010/10/photoshop-education-discount-am-i.html

Or go for Elements or Lightroom for a lot less.

G'day Wayne
I read your post about wanting CS5 for your family. As you say it is very expensive to purchase .
There is a free program out there called Gimp do not know why free but is close to photoshop in it's editing .
Perhaps worth a try until you can purchase CS5

The normal price for a CS5 upgrade download is $139 whereas a new install is usually more. Please provide a link to check out.

There are some scams out there, so be careful. Adobe software is normally not heavily discounted legally except to students and educators. :-(

As I am new, I did not remember the rules on links and ads, as I previously skimmed the rules and saw there are a lot of them. Yes, I too wondered about the authenticity of this site because I've not delt with them:
