We got 6 to 7 additional inches of rain last night here in the Dallas area. Going on 4 weeks now... The Trinity river is literally at the bursting point on the levees. Many of the areas I have been photographing were closed due to high water. There was a drowning fatality at one. (California Crossing). One of the major highways in the area was closed. (Loop 12 at I-30) Some people were stuck for 4-5 hours. Of course this all winds up down stream. Houston was hit with some of the same heavy rain we got a few days ago. My little sister had 3 feet of water in her house in less than 30 min. (She lives 3 blocks from Brayes Bayou)
P.S. sorry if I got a bit heavy handed with the HDR stuff.... I'm trying a new program.....

Albert....It seemed to be right over our house last night between 2 and 4. Lots of lightning which we thought hit right on our block and loud thunder kept us awake for two hours. I don't know how my wife was able to get up at 4:30 work in O.R. all day.

Woke me up... Had to let the dog up on the bed.... I had to get my vehicle inspected and registered today. Beltline Rd. from Irving to Grand Prairie is my usual route. Looks like it became the main detour for Loop 12.... Stop and go gridlock at 10:00 am....

Photomatix Pro 5.0 (Win-64bit) I'm not a big fan of over done HDR. (although I'm as guilty as the next person :) ) Photomatix has the best group of pre-sets I've seen. Ranging from a light touch that just accentuates the details a bit all the way up to the surreal. That along with a full set of manual adjustments. I can usually find a preset that gets me close to what I'm looking for and then tweak it.... It does the best job of reducing the grain at the more extreme settings than any other program I've tried.... Here's another one.....

This one is somewhat better, but I'd say you used the surreal preset for the first group. Did the same thing when I first got that program. It CAN do much better. Here in Corpus Christi it's only been flooded here and there, not so much the last few days. Actually saw some sun after a week of rain. Farmers are hurting, no matter what their crop.

Thanks Albert. I'm using the same as you except mine is the Pro 4 version. I do have a tendency to over cook my captures, but it's what I like, and that's what photography is all about, right?

Again, a very nice job on the HDR.

Great shots! Just thinking.... All that water is coming down here to join what we already have!

Yeah, I'm a kid with a new toy..... but I'll get over it! :) More heavy rain this morning.... Many local farmers have not been able to plant.... The ground is so saturated the earth worms are coming up in knotted clumps....

Thanks.... More heavy rain this morning.... It's funny.... as devastating as this cycle has been, we can almost assuredly expect drought conditions sometime in the not too distant future based on existing models... With all the lakes full we should be ok as far as that goes for at least a couple of years.

Thanks... It's a very interesting program and looks to be my HDR tool of choice in the future.

You are probably right! My Mom lives in Wichita Falls and they just announced the lake is now 100%! Just a month ago it was less than 10%!
