Police, Paramedics & Drugs….. Oh My!

East Dallas, at the corner of Elm & Haskell…. 11:40 PM… 5/13/15…
We had just locked up the shop for the night when I came on this scene. My mechanic had hit (or been hit by?) a person on a bicycle while attempting to turn left. The ‘injured party’ was one of our local homeless guys & appeared to be ok. When the paramedics arrived he laid back on the ground (he had been sitting up) and grabbed his arm and started moaning. When the police arrived he became abusive and called the female officer a B****. He was smoking an electronic cigarette which the local homeless population uses to get high on synthetic marijuana. It’s a liquid & is used like the liquid nicotine in e-cigs…. (AKA Vapes) It’s pretty nasty stuff and has all the worst effects of alcohol & pot combined.

I feel a lawsuit coming on from the 'injured' man although being on drugs, the chances of the accident being his fault are enormous.

My friend Vanessa (in the top left of the photo) owns the building across the street and has video surveillance cameras that captured the whole thing. Pretty sure the 'victim' pulled his bike out in front of my mechanic's truck. Our homeless friend is probably going to wish those cameras weren't trained on that intersection......
