adorama.com or b+hphoto.com are the two most trusted camers stores in New York City. Their are a lot of scummy websites outthere offering a real low price on cameras. don't fall for it. It's either bait and switch cause they cant sell at that price or they will sell you the camera at x price but the battery, the charger the next strap the manual all cost extra. Beware of broadway photo. another trick they will due is sell you a grey market camera. which means the camera wasnt made for us market has no us warranty and the manual might not be in english

If best price is your main and only qualification, try Sam's Club. I think the T3i is available there as a two lens package for the best price around.

The Nikon can be had at many different retail stores including - surprisingly - Target. It typically won't come with that lens though. A 35mm 1.8 is going to set you back because of the 1.8. Probably will cost as much as the body with its kit lens.

You didn't say whether you are looking for 35mm equivalent focal lengths or digital focal lengths on your lenses but f/1.8 is more expensive in either case.

I'd say make sure you buy from a huge company that has been around for a long while so you have some recourse on factory warranty and extended warranty repairs - whether it's online or in-store. Worry about that more than saving $10 or even $50.

While I don't like Best Buy very much, I'd prefer them over Joe Schmo's kitchen-table-based eBay store any time. And never ever buy a camera from overseas!

Well, the only way you're going to get that particular body lens combination on either of those is through a camera store. Big box stores are only going to offer "kit" lenses and nether of those are. Your best bet is to find a reputable local camera store that has been around a while. You'll pay a little more for the body, but save in the long run by not having to pay for kit lenses needlessly. Also, chances are if you buy everything at the same time, they'll most likely give you a discount. Just out of curiosity, why two completely different systems?
