I've been watching "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries," and I'm wondering if it is still being produced.

Don't think so Jerry, we're starting to get repeats. The latest is the Doctor Blake series

I'll probably have to wait a year or more for that to come to Netflix.

My wife, who is an avid fan of the series, tells me a new series is about to start. No date set yet. I hope she's right because it's one of the few shows she watches that I also like. :-D :-D :-D Glad you like our Aussie productions Jerry.

Good! I have one or two episodes left to watch in whatever season it is I'm watching. Then I'll have to wait.

The production values are very high, I like the actors and the story lines, and I learn something about Australia and the times.

I too understand that a new series is coming. The costuming is very good.
I am interested in how it is being viewed in the US . Are you watching an Aust DVD using a US player( we are in a different international zone ) or is it on cable TV?

Thanks Jerrryc41

You obviously like a range of non US shows. Have you seen any of the Scandanavian shows such as The Killing, The Bridge or Borgen? I am sure you would like them as they are very high quality but they are subtitled. I believe some of them have been remade in the US too. Another series you might like is the Wallender crime videos. There is a subtitled Swedish series and a British series starring Sir Kenneth Branagh and a bunch of British actors whose faces are familiar from other series such as Midsommer Murders. personally I prefer the original Swedish version as I think Branagh portrays Wallender as being too morose or depressed.

These shows are screened here on a free to air channel called SBS ( Special Broadcasting Service ). This was set up about 30 yrs ago to cater to foreign language minorities but has most of its programming in English. It has a lot of non - mainstream sport such as cycling, soccer etc. also has lots of continental movies. Hence SBS sometimes referred to as "soccer bloody soccer" or " s-x before sleep".

I hope you enjoy the next series of Miss Fischer when it arrives.

PS You might enjoy our Dr Blake, set about 1959. It is a bit quaint but reflective of the times .

Thanks Jerrryc41 br br You obviously like a range... (show quote)

I like to watch foreign, closed captioned shows to see the different countries, see how things work there, and hear the languages. I've watched quite a few Scandinavian (watching Dicte now), Italian, French, and South American shows and movies.

I didn't like Branagh's Wallendar at all - too depressing. I watched all of the Midsomer Murders - great series. I haven't seen those Scandinavian shows you mentioned, but I'll look for them and Dr. Blake. I began watching a French crimes series, but the plot got too convoluted, and I lost interest.

Have you seen the crime series "Dirty Tricks"? Very good. How about "The Last Detective"? Or, "At Home with the Braithwaites" - Excellent!

Yeah, I've heard about the midwives, but not "A Place..." Have you seen any of "The Bletchley Circle"? It's about women working in code breaking at Bletchley Park during WW II - and then after the war. Very interesting.
