Interesting Photoshop. Where I'd use that sort of edit is to highlight the catcher. Get a shot of him at bat and behind the plate. Otherwise, when it comes to sports photos, I'm more of a traditionalist.

My Granddaughter was the hitter so I wanted her to stand out. Just something different Many possibilities.

Ultimately, the only thing that matters is "Do you like an effect?"

Just went and looked at your shots and liked them very much. I too like traditional shots in sports and photography in general, but when I show parents these kind of shots like OOB they love them. I like to play with different effects and presentations. I sometimes get tired of the same old flower shots, sunset shots , bird shots ,not that they aren't great, I just like to try different things.

Thank you. I think I'm officially becoming an old fart, even though I'm just short of 50. There are some of the newer fads in photography that I don't care for such as the extreme over exposures that I've seen in some high school senior portrait work.

But there are things my generation has done that the older generation thought was strange too. LOL

LOL I don't think you are near being an old fart yet> Its just that people have different tastes which is great. I just think it is wrong when people rip someones work just because they don't like their style. You didn't do that, you stated what style you like which is the way to do it.

I think a shot like this would be great if you have the hitter swinging and nearly connecting with the ball, but overall I like the effect. It definitely makes me stop and look at it twice. Nice job.

Thank you very much! Yes lots of possibilities with this effect, kinda fun to play with. Like Big Dave said traditional sports pics are probably the best but kids and parents love this kind of pic.

great stuff...this is the stuff that really sells today. i do senior shots and they want to be totally different from others.

big difference in the senior pictures today than when i was a senior. common head/bust shot and dressed nice....now it's torn and ragged jeans, really tight or really loose clothes and of course we cannot forget grunge...but the more extreme you can make the photos...bigger the ticket price.
