Always have had Sealife's. Dont use a strobe. Sometimes the pictures turn out sooo much better then others, I know different 'waters' have a little bit to do with that, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
I can't give any advice because I snorkel and don't use the strobes and underwater lighting. As for different waters I love the clear waters of Kleine Bonaire as do divers. Anyway, I love the angle of the squid. I missed a wonderful shot of them mating in fairly shallow waters. I like all three shots and think IMHO PS would enhance the ray and take some pink out of the squid shot but the third one is right on.
Does your camera have a white balance setting or adjustment?
what is IMHO PS? And thank you for the input :D

yes with the camera came a white card, and (poop) I have to find the manual...didnt know what I was doing back then...still dont LOL. What is White Balance? It just seems that the camera isnt taking pictures as nice as it used to. Or it could be me, but Im doing the same thing I have always done with the PS...just take the picture.
IMHO PS = In My Humble Opinion, PhotoShop
PP = Post Processing (typically in PhotoShop)
So, I've taken some liberty to do some basic PP on the squid shot. It's only one way to approach the issue, but I altered the white balance a bit by adjusting the curves for each color channel, and then just a smidge of sharpening.
It often doesn't take much to pick up where the camera limitations leave off.
An interesting note: while I did balance out the red, it's still too red in the uploaded version (what's appears on UHH is noticeably redder than the image I worked on, on screen.) One of the vagaries of computers.

It does make them stand out more even with the red. Looks good. Did you try the ray too?
