How do I copy my photos from Lightroom on to my memory stick.

I don't understand how to create a subfolder.

Export is not highlighted.

First highlight the photos you want to export,
then R-Click to get to the export menu!
As far as putting them on a location, make certain it is mounted and select it in the output dialog

Capture48 is "right-on".

Heather,USB drive prices are getting lower and lower. Newegg has a sale today-only 128 gig 3.0 for less than $40. I like the Corsair Voyager because it has a Slider rather than a cap. Ordered mine this AM.

We always learn, often from tripping over something of value, such was the case ... USB as RAID 0. Hay, Heather, not complicated, simply use two Flash Drives plugged into USB ports, easy to use a USB hub. The RAID action is explained by the You-tube below. Capacity is doubled and speed is increased significantly ... for two it is doubled. Capture48, your comments would be appreciated.

Since you are using them as storage, the small hub/2flash can hang out the back of your computer.

Thanks for your reply, but I am still have the same problem.

I forgot to say that I am working in windows 7.

I don't understand your sentence "make sure they are mounted and select it in the output dialog".

Any further explanations.

Mounting is a Unix term, it just means that your drive is plugged in and visible to the OS.

Do you have a collection selected or a group of photos selected you want to copy?

If you still have an issue maybe you need to post the error you are getting. Making a folder is a very basic computer task. Do this with the OS - R-Click where you want to create a folder and select "New Folder". If you just want to copy photos from a LR directory to the new folder you just created, you don't need LR to do that, do this in your OS. Drag from on e folder to the next.

I know it must be very frustrating for you, but I am an 86 year old lady coming to terms with modern technology. I used windows at work and is quite confident with that, but Lightroom is a bit of a struggle and I am not mastering your instructions. Any instructions on how to copy the page I am getting to you so that you can see where I am at. I am speaking UK English. Maybe terminology is different where you live. I am grateful for your help. You are trying very hard.

First let's make sure I understand what you want to do.

As I understand you have a file (photo) or photos you want to COPY from one location to another.

If the above understanding is correct, this does not have anything to do with Lightroom. Close Lightroom and forget it exists.

You simply copy these files in your (OS) operating system. There is no need to involve LR at all. Now, if you don't know how to copy a file in your OS, thats a extremely basic OS function, get a grandson or any 6 year old to show you. This is not meant to be flippant, it really is a basic function, and if you can't copy a file, you need to learn computer basics. Something children learn at a very early age these days, so I know they can show you.

If my understanding above is not correct, and you are NOT trying to copy a file. By all means let me know, and we'll try to figure out what you really are trying to do.

BTW I have a 86 year old father-in-law in your neck of the woods. My wife and him talk on Skype weekly so I am not frustrated I do this every week. I am a little reluctant to explain file copy with your OS. I'd rather someone show you visually how to do it so it makes sense to you. I fear trying to explain file copy on this board in text may be confusing. So if you have a grandchild I'm positive they can show you.

Good on you for trying!

You made me laugh. You are quite right a child would know how to copy a file. Yes, I want to copy a photo that is in Lighgtroom. Ok, as you say close Lightroom. Can you now tell me where my photos are stored on my hard drive?

I can and have made a folder ready to receive my photo, but where is it other than Lightroom.

I daresay that my Lightroom is not set up correctly. I suppose my photos should also be saved on my hard drive before going into Lightroom .

Cool, we are making progress. OK to find out where your photo is stored, you're going to have to open Lightroom again. find the photo(s) you want to copy and R-Click on it. SElect the option that says show in Explorer. I believe Windows calls it Explorer. MAC's call it finder. I have a red box around it in mine. This will open a window within your OS, and you can drag from one window to another in your operating systems folders. No need for LR except to find where the photo is.

let me know if that works for you!

Horray! It worked. It was the Explorer part that was the missing link. I just right click and did "send to" where I wanted it and hey presto it worked. That is the way I usually copy to memory sticks.

Thanks a lot. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED FROM DULL & DRIZZLY
UNITED KINGDOM.
