For a conservative to call a liberal a socialist or a communist is the same as a liberal calling a conservative a fascist. It's stupid. I'm a liberal, but I'm not a socialist. I take my responsibilities as a citizen seriously, I vote in every election, I don't cheat on my taxes and I show up for jury duty. I served in the US Navy and I'm a Viet Nam Veteran. I am not a socialist. I think those who feel a need for extreme, derogatory name calling do so to avoid intelligent discourse.

All though we do not agree in regard to our political ideologies I think your statement above is well said. Name calling does not lead to an intelligent discourse and only serves to further separate us. We may have differing points of view but we are still in this together like it or not. I believe BOTH sides love this country and want only the best for her we just have different views on how to get there.
