I have a nikon 16-85 for sale $575 w/caps, bag, box. I used it on my D7000 and loved it - sharp, clean, fast. Sold D7000.
Now I have a D700 and I want to buy a 24-120 F4.
Also willing to trade.

The lens is a Nikon AF-S 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 G ED VR for DX. it is the only 16-85 Nikon makes to date and is the equivalent of the 24-120 full frame lens.
I purchased it new from KEH on Sept. 6, 2011. The lens has been used very little. It is still under Nikon's warranty. I am located in central North Carolina and will ship USPS, insured, at no cost to buyer. I will accept PayPal, or check given time to clear my bank.
Excellent lens, I use same thing with my D7000, will get other cams and lens but will never give up this winning combination.

I agree mrblackett. It was my favorite combo until I went full frame - still miss it. Curious that no one is interested in buying it. Maybe they all have it already.
I did a series of test shots today on my D700 comparing the 16-85 and 24-120. As expected, the detail, noise, dynamic range were all improved on the full frame. I tried very hard to avoid that conclusion but in the end, the detail is important to me for large prints = 24" and up.
For 20" and below I think the D7000 and its lenses are hard to beat. I miss the size and weight of the smaller kit. If I could afford it I would keep both. I'll be looking very hard at the D800 and the new DX bodies yet to be announced.
You right, I haven't printed that large, but my wedding was done by a photographer with a D700 and his shots were lousy compared to what I'm doing with the D7000. I shoot at 400 iso and 160 speed for indoors with exposure adjustment to +1.0, in M mode and I'll tell you people are going crazy about my shots. I also use the SB-700 Speedlight. I am getting the D800 too, my only issue with DX is the eye strain staring through the smaller viewfinder. My right eye hurts and is unable to focus clearly. FX have larger VF's that are so much more comfortable. I may have someone who will need to upgrade from the 18-55 on his D5100 so I'll point him your way.

It is not just the FX, it is also the lenses. I sold a very good collection of D class lenses and upgraded to newer glass because the images are just better. Period. The settings and skill of the shooter also make a huge difference.
Good luck with the eye thing. It ended my pro/studio days many years ago. I would have double vision for hours after looking through the viewfinder for a few minutes. And that was with medium and large format cameras. I just dodged a visual bullet with a double PVD (google it) event. Now I just have a bunch of really big floaters to enjoy. Aging is such a trip, but it beats the alternative.
Thanks for passing the info along.
Jim
Sure thing, definitely. Double vision is exactly what happens to me after a day of shooting. It happens mostly in daylight shooting, does not last very long though. Just hate dealing with it when the event is not yet over. I have 20/20 vision on off camera days, for now LOL,
