Crystal Stack

Created this image of a crystal using a focus stack of 15 images. This is the first time I have ever done a focus stack.

Taken with 5DM3, Tamron 180mm macro and Cognisys Stackshot. Stack blended in PSCC2014 (Already had this so thought I would give it a try).

Nice idea!
I would like to suggest the same subject, but with colored lighting from beneath & behind. Could get some interesting effects.

Nice one. I have little experience with stacking, but I think your pic maybe could have benefited from more lighting--maybe even enough to make it 'sparkle'. JMO. :-) :-)

Looks like you did a super job with your first focus stack, Dave.

Thanks Dook for your kind words and advice. I also feel the lighting was too low. Guess I was concentrating on getting focus too much and let that slip. Will keep in mind for future attempts.
