It's a snapshot of a horse with a saddle on. Why did you shoot this? What do you want the viewer to know? Let's talk about that, and then we can talk about what you could do differently.

Im sure the horse and the people are known to you and the image means something on a personal basis but leaves me thinking why did you post it?
The horse is nicely in focus but hidden partially by the man and the rail in the foreground. The guy having his back towards the camera does not help. The person peeking over the fence is distracting.
There must be story behind this and it may have helped if you had explained a little more.

I think you might have had better luck getting the shot you wanted if you had been in the arena. You could have eliminated the fence between you and the horse. Now pretending that the fence is not there, if you had waited until the horse was to the right on the man you would have had the complete horse. You might even have waited a bit so the line was clearly visible. I googled Lunging horses images and up came some interesting shots. You might want to look at some of those and try to recreate it,
I do have to complement you on getting a fast moving horse in focus.

This is a snapshot. There does not appear to have been any thought or planning before the shot. There are too many distractions and negative elements. The horse is in focus but the image has little else of merit. Your title strikes me as odd. This horse looks like it has been ridden and is wet and is heading for the barn before anybody else can jump on.

as for the forward fence easy to remove. really don't see enough room inside the fence. only other thing i would do is adjust the contrast and clarity.

You are all (mostly) correct. My husband loves working with horses and was lunging horses before a ride. I am a rank amateur and am greatly appreciate your feed back. Billyspad is correct, the person and horse are known to me, so the image gives meaning to me - not others. This is a good lesson for myself. I thank all of you for your replies.

Fantastic! You have access to the horses and the handler. What a great exercise it would be to try and get a better composition. I would love to see you post here so we can watch your progress.

Thank you Country's Mama. I do hope to post more pictures. The hardest part for me is taking the time to go out and shoot. I need to make more time and just do it. Thank you!
