I have a Canon XTI that the sensor on the meory card slot failed. Canon does not fix these cameras anymore. I was wondering if anyone knew where I might get it fixed. I will have to ship. Just thought if it wasn't to much I would fix for one of my kids.

Thanks.

A repair on an 8 year old Rebel might cost as much or more then the camera is worth right now.
Maybe time to consider an upgrade?

Thank you Swamp Gator. I realize that and get my new camera as a Xmas present. Just wondering what it would cost to fix and maybe my kids could use it if they were interested.

Just a curiosity at this point.

There is a very good repair shop here in Columbus that is authorized service for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Minolta, etc. Camtronics has been in business for about 40 years. Check their website: http://www.camtronicscamerarepair.com/

Thanks for this very good info. I've zipped out an email to these folks concerning getting a couple of cameras cleaned and serviced. I'll be checking other sources mentioned in this thread as well.

Look at used bodies on KEH. They only have 'bargain' bodies in the $100 range that is likely the same or less than the cost of repair. If any of those are an XTi I sold about 2 years ago, the issue .with the camera was the body showed a lot of wear after 6 years and the display had a lot of scratches. The camera worked perfectly. At KEH you have 2-weeks to return, no questions asked. There's also a 180-day warranty.

Not always. I work from home and can repair them fairly inexpensively. Been doin' em for years and to me, they're not that much trouble.

I've bought several "Bargain" items from KEH with good results. A Pentax LX in Bargain had a little brassing on the self-timer lever, a few scratches on the base plate, and some dust in the viewfinder. I slid the prism off, blew the dust of the screen, all was good to go.
