I'm getting a new camera, I love my rebel xti and I'm pulling towards getting the t2i. Why does the t2i seem nicer then the t3? Or is Nikon really the way to go? I'm just looking to hear some pros and cons..or whatever input I get! Thanks :)

I love my T3i. I love the video part so I don't have to carry my pocket camera now.

I got a T2i for christmas. I checked out the T3 and did not like the way it felt. The T3 seemed like it was plastic which i did not like. The T2i is a great camera.

I have had a Nikon D3100 for almost a year now and love it. It is very user friendly for DSLR beginners, but has the capability to perform as well as some of its higher priced competitors. I also have used a friend's new Canon T3i and I must say that it takes awesome pictures as well. I am using the Canon to make Church Directory pictures and the portraits are looking great straight from the camera with no editing. Overall, and even though it is 4 megapixels less than the Canon, I really prefer my Nikon! There are also some great buys right now on the Nikon D5100. I suggest you look at it as well. The extra $$'s are worth it ~

Costco again has the deal I went for on the D5100. Under $1000 with 18-55 and 55-300mm lenses, case and card.

IMHO the D5100 is much better than the D3100. It has the same sensor as the much more expensive D7000.

I have found the articulated LCD screen to be much cooler than I expeceted. I use it a lot.

You can probably order on Costco.com. If you don't belong it is worth it for this buy.

They also have a great deal on the T2i.

+1 for the D5100. Been using Nikon SLR's since the 60's, recommend them highly

On that same note my buddy swears by Canon, it's the old Chevy vs Ford. You can't go wrong with either system.

Thank you all for the opinions and input! Unfortunately I have to choose from one of these 3 cameras. I wish I knew more about Nikon, I've never have even held a Nikon before.
I guess I'm pulling towards the Canon. I know lenses are expensive does Nikon seem to be cheaper? I'm having a hard time picking because the cameras were not my choice it was a choice given to me. So its not like I can hold and play to see which I like more.

There's really no big difference between them for your intents and purposes. You've got a Canon now, so you have at least one lens that will fit a T2 or 3. That's the ONLY thing swaying one way or another - your Canon lens will not fit on a Nikon.

Good lenses for either brand can be expensive. So that's a wash.

Go to Costco or Sams or whatever and get your grubby little paws on them. :) Just see which feel better. There's really very little difference under the skin, when you're looking at sub-$1000 cameras.

BTW Costco also has a package on the T21i for $780. The only dif is the telephoto is 55-250. You can check it out on Costco.com if you aren't a member of a local store. You have to add it to the cart to see the price.

They show the D5100 package at $999...read the fine print.

I'm a faithful Canon user and talked one of my friends into getting a Canon XTi like mine. She loved it and about 2 months ago bought a Canon T3i - says she'd die before giving up that camera. Loves it with a passion. And we both use Sigma lenses with our cameras with no problems at all.

Now this may sound silly. But there is a difference between the T3 &T3i?

Yes there is a difference between the T3 &T3i. I have the T3, it is a great camera, but it is the introductory DSLR, takes get pics...etc. T3i, more advanced and more features, if you are not new to DSLR....and have the $ go for the T3i.

SAMs club has a t3 kit with 75 -300 lens plus standard 18-55 kit lens for 599. Hard to beat that deal. Even comes with a camera bag.

Mtnman, I'm thinking hard on the D5100 at Costco. What do you mean by "...read the fine print."?
