I own a couple of cameras that have a swing-out display screens, e.g., a Nikon D5100 and a Canon SX10IS.
The displays approx. sizes are: 2.75" X 2" (with a 3.5" diagonal) & 2" X 1.5" (with a 2.5 " diagonal), respectively, and both swing around so the display can either face in or out.
I am looking for a thin, adhesive (that can be peeled off when desired) type material. The material will NOT distort the color spectrum or distort a possible polarize filtered lens image on the display. The material is also protecting the display for scratches and eliminating display glare.
I would like to know what product you use that meets these requirements.
Why not try something like Saran Wrap ??? Theres one that is advertised on tv that reallly clings to the bowl and dosen't even leak when turned upside down... Worth a try...............

Check on Amazon they have several types o f screen protectors...
Get a cell phone screen protector. They can be cut to size and can be taken off at any time. I put one on my G12 screen and also have one on my Canon 50D. Look for the kind that says fingerprint proof. Makes a big difference; especially when there's a grand kid that wants to touch the screen each time she looks at the latest shot. You can get them at any cell phone store. I get them at Best Buy. Better selection and not phone brand specific so prices are better.
Google Zagg screen protectors. You can actually order for each distinct camera model.

There are dozens of products like that. They apply easily and peel off easily. Sometimes they peel off by themselves. You'll find them at camera stores and any place that sells cell phones. I have them on everything with an LCD screen. If you ever want to sell you device, a scratch-free screen is an advantage. Look on Amazon and read the reviews.
How big is the risk of scratching, and what does it matter if it happens? I've never used such things, and never felt the need, though I can see jerryc41's point about selling.
Cheers,

I bought a roll of that Glad Press N Seal. It's horrible. Yes, it does cling - to itself and anything in sight. You rip it off the roll and it clumps together. We've had it for years because no one wants to use it. Besides, it's not clear.
A friend uses that wide packaging tape on his devices - like wide Scotch tape.
Big risk when you have small children who run up and want to see every image as it is shot. Anything with an LCD screen is irresistible to them. You should see my laptop after the grand kid goes home. I never see her touch it but it is always a mess after she leaves. I want her to be interested so I never say don't touch, just 'have you washed your hands?'

I real life, a few scratches on the LCD don't make any practical difference. It's strictly cosmetic. On the other hand ...
I've bought and sold cameras on ebay, and when a seller says that there are scratches on the LCD, that's got to lower the interest. I'm kind of compulsive about protecting things - cases, covers, boxes, cleaning, etc.
Wow! That stuff is really sticky. The residue would have to affect what you see on the screen. Good luck to your friend but there is NO way I would put that on any LCD screen of mine.

I have a protective screen on my 40D. I have no idea where it was purchased from or who made it. When I purchased it the previous owner had attached it. Doesn't make a difference inert way or another to me. I'm pretty sure you can get one off amazon or B&H.

He'll do anything to save a buck, and he's been using tape for years.
