Experience with Crutchfield Camera?

Crutchfield has a very good price on a Canon lens that I am interested in. Has anyone on the forum made purchases with them and is it a good company to work with?

Crutchfield has been in business a very long time; maybe 35-40 years. They have the goods, but I would never equate them with "...a very good price on..."
I haven't dealt with them in a very long time but I think they're safe.

I have been a Crutchfield customer for about 25 years. Not the lowest price on the market, but they are a top-notch outfit, never a bad deal, and give you world-class customer service.

I have no idea if Crutchfield is OK or not. But I would see if they are an authorized Canon dealer. If Not the lens may be grey market. If so, Canon might not honor any warrantee, or do any repair if needed. Check this out if you are concerned

Thanks for that link, I bookmarked it for future use.
It did surprise me that Crutchfield had such a poor rating with the site however. Years ago I bought a number of items from Crutchfield and had pretty good luck with them; however it probably has been twenty years since I've bought anything from them. I actually did not know they were still in business and had pretty much forgotten the name.
What I found interesting in reading through the reviews was how polarized they were. About half of the reviews had nothing but praise and the other half were one-star complaints about the company. Complaints seem to be about their unwillingness to take obscure forms of payment or slowness in shipping. And there was one downgrade for weakness in their technical support - a complaint I have about any of the bigger retailers.

I have been a Crutchfield customer for more than 25 yrs and have never had a complaint. In their earlier yrs they specialized in after market auto sound systems. In more recent yrs they have expanded to include home theater, audio/video components, and some camera products.
My most recent purchase was a Sony 48" flat tv screen. It was delivered in about 3 days and the shipping was included in base price. In many cases their prices are not the lowest, but service is top notch in my opinion. The fast delivery service could be due to my proximity to Crutchfield. They are in Virginia and I live in Md.

I did go to this site and put in crutchfields, and was surprised of the rating, then I put in ebay,amazon and b&h photo, and they were all kind of low, adorama came aout high!!
maybe its like when you are late a couple days on a payment in 1986, it comes up when you want to buy a car in 2014!!!!!

I have purchased THOUSANDS of dollars worth of audio equipment for home and my vehicles from Crutchfield. I also purchased a couple of lenses and a point and shoot from them for my wife.
As others have said, you will probably find plenty of other companies that will underbid their prices... but NO ONE will beat their customer service. They ship OVERNIGHT free of charge and in the very RARE event that there is a problem, THEY TAKE CARE OF IT IMMEDIATELY.
Crutchfield is one of my favorite online retailers; I wouldn't hesitate to buy ANYTHING from them.
As for that review site... I've never heard of it. And I've NEVER experienced a problem with any of the dozens of items I've purchased from Crutchfield over the last 16 years. Not a single one.
