I think I just found out that Canon will not allow Filter from Nikon to be used on their equipment, I have all brand new filter and things that I have for my Nikon D5300 which is 52mm lens and the Canon is I think is 50mm and I have a lot of set up's and set downs but not one of them will go on the Canon, So I think it is off the the Store to start all over again. :(

You need one of these. I think they come in 2 sizes. 58mm and 67mm. Do a google for SX50 filter adapter.

It has nothing to do with Canon not allowing, it is just two different filter sizes. You can address this minor problem with the use of stepping rings, they are a cost effective way to resolved you dilemma.

The SX50's lens is not threaded to take a screw on filter. You need an adapter, which is a bayonet fitting (push & turn). The adapter is threaded to accept a conventional filter. They are made in a couple of sizes. I use a 67mm adapter/filter (I use a CPL occasionally) on mine--this size is recommended by Canon. :-) :-)

On the 50 or 60 you have to use an adapter even for Canon's filters. You can buy the adapter for just a few dollars off E bay.

I have a 67mm to a 62mm, also a 62mm to a 67mm and both will not go on they are too big, so if I to to E-bay what do I ask for or every time that I look it up it goes to Amazon?

As I remember it is a 58 to 67, but if this is wrong I am sure someone will correct me. Just go on e bay and search for Canon SX50 filter adapter and the right one will open. Good luck.

Sure, the only one that I don't have is the 58mm to 67mm, with all of the things that I got when I was in school at Tacoma Comm College for Photo and that was not in the kit so I will check on E-Bay

No filter will fit directly to the SX50, no matter what size it is. You fit the adapter to the SX50 & then screw the filter to the adapter. Buy an 'SX50 filter adapter ring to suit 67mm filter'. If you already have a 58mm filter, buy one to suit 58mm instead.

This is what you need.

Stephen has pointed you in the right direction. The Canon one is more expensive, but as far as I can tell the cheap one and the Canon look alike and do the same thing. I have both.

The one that Stephen has pictured is the correct one for the 50 and 60. Good luck.

52mm is too small & not recommended. Buy an adapter ring & a 67mm filter. 67mm is the size recommended by Canon. I use one & they work fine.
