In Vermont's Lake Champlain valley for a couple of days scouting places to catch the fall and spring waterfowl migration. The valley is a major flyway. Saw tons of great blue herons today and a lot of potential places to visit once the migration really gets underway in a few weeks.

Great Blue Heron

Love this shot. I've got a favorite GBH on each of the lakes I fish. They know to fly just when they're slightly out of my range as I sneak up on them! This is a very graceful shot. I also love shots of them looking all awkward and discombobulated as they take off, struggling to get airborne, you wonder how they ever get into the air at all!

Thanks Mr PC. Birds in flight are so tough for me. I was in the right place at the right time for this one. A boat had startled it and I was ready! Thanks for looking.

Thanks Linda. Partly lucky shot but I have been practicing on Gulls a lot so maybe it's finally paid off!
