Took advice of other UHH subscribers to take a camera wherever you go as a means of increasing your photo ops. Carried my camera with me one morning while doing fence work. Not an exceptional photo, but the beginning of working on the discipline.

Thanks Miss Stephie. Both look better on my monitor than they do posted; lighter and better color rendition. this is the first time it has happened on a post.

May I show what the monochrome version looks like (not sepia toned, but a bit more dramatic contrast)? I converted your color version in NIK Silver Efex.

Nice job. Well presented. Both photos have their own character...

Converted in NIK Silver Efex, with a little drama from Color Efex.

It looks great!!! I very cautious using Silver Efex, because if I'm not careful, I get a lot of noise. You seem to have mastered using it. What refinement do you use in Color Efex to add to a B&W? Or do you process the color version in Color Efex first then go to Silver Efex?

First I choose a preset that is close to the final effect I want to see, then I move over to the right side of the page and start manipulating those controls. At the very top is Brightness, Contrast and Structure. You can then add control points to a specific part of the photo which acts like a Lightroom Radial Filter, and again you can control Brightness, Contrast and Structure, but with local effects only. Then there a colors filters, sliders where you can control the values for red, yellow, green, cyan, blue and magenta, vignette controls, toning, and film types.

Thanks Jay. Slowly I'm catching on to the PP technique.
