I spotted what looks to be a juvie RT Hawk sitting in a pine tree this afternoon.
I got some pics of him just sitting there but was hoping for a flight shot if it ever took off. I know they can sit in a tree for quite a while and my arms were getting tired waiting for that exact moment and trying to hold up Mrs. SG's Canon 50D with her 300 on it. (which is what we happened to have in the car with us)
Well when I saw it kind of puff up, I guessed that might mean it was ready to leave and sure enough it did.

One of the hard things is just sitting and waiting for the right moment(s). These are wonderful!

Superb! I especially like the second shot. Never seen a bird of prey all puffed up like that!

Nice shots as usual, gator. My arms have actually gone numb waiting for these critters to take flight, they are very patient.
Very, very nice! Great patience and a nicely behaved bird :)
Great sequence Gator. Wonder what the 'puffing up' is all about? Just flexing its' muscles I guess.
Excellent Series!!!!! Your patience really paid off!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Incredible shots, as usual. Do you ever go home to eat and sleep?
