LITTLE FRIEND SCHNAUZERS

My husband I purchased a Nikon SLR camera recently. We needed it to put pictures of our dogs and puppies on our web site. However, we know very little about photography and need to learn everything necessary to get those exceptional photographs that say buy me, I'm so cute. We also love to take pictures of wildlife. We have deer and many endangered species birds in our yard and want to improve our pictures of them.

Your pets are adorable. Your photos are good and sharp. I would crop the top one differently, as there is too much of the maroon cloth.

Number 3 is adorable, but too many distractions to my taste.

One and two are much better images.

I mostly agree with the other reply - in the #1, the subject, the dog should be placed lower in the frame. I also agree that less is more - keep it simple, keep the distractions few. Photography in most ways is a personal media, very subjective so I am not trying to say what is right or wrong. I like closer shoots and not always head on - change the angle, change the perspective. I have added some not because I am all that proud of them, but to give you an idea of different looks. By the way - dogs are amoung, if not my favorite subjects and my favorites. Also I have a photosharing web site that all are most welcome to view if interested - just click on my profile to your left. Enjoy the day.

Here are some of our pets. As you can see, we torment them. (Not really!)

Strubbles - Very nice looking spoiled pets you have there. Always nice to see the ones that are getting treated like the royalty they are as far too many are not treated right. Please keep on a pampering, keep on taking their pictures and thanks for sharing.

I did that quite a while ago. Let me see if I can remember how.

I think I did a quick select in cs5. Then I refined the edges as best I could and placed Louie on a black background.

I hope that helps.

The first one, Louie and Uma in the Rain was fun to do.

They had their leashes on at the time, so I cloned out the leashes.

Then I had the problem of the raindrops. I went through a very complicated (so it seemed to me) way of creating rain drops... or I found a small file of raindrops on the internet... I forget which.

In any case, the file was small and so I had to duplicate it over and over and over. A lot of work in that one.

Great photos Thanks, Photography to me is a way of life and when we do it were also capturing history and able to preserve so many memories. I especially love doing candids
I hate pavarate and could never be a part of the sneaky way people try to make money from people that do not like those kind of people. I am 80 years old and photography is a way of lifr to me

I am happier photoshopping than I am shooting. I think that is because I am better at photoshopping than shooting. I have a very good eye, but not too much technique. I am trying to learn.

I love to find a not great photo and do something with it.

Here is the original photo of Louie, the #2 photo.
