I'm now going to a GAS clinic anonymous in hopes of resolving my addiction. However, selling my rc airplanes are allowing me to hide some of the dollars from my better half! Now, let's see, how much is that 400 f2.8?

Hi dear UHH guys & gals. I've previously read posts on UHH about members "suffering" from GAS - and had to smile when reading them. Seems like I've also been bitten by the bug. Less than 2 weeks ago I sold my Nikon D3200 to my daughter as she wanted to upgrade a bit (from her D3000); - I'd only had it for 7 months! . . . . so just this last week have ordered a Nikon D7100 with 18 - 140mm Lens from B & H Photo Video........

Danny,

Thank you for your patronage. We hope the purchase goes smoothly and may you enjoy many years of photographing happy family occaisions.

All the best.

I agree about the articulated screen, it's great for when your creaky old human body can't quite get the camera's body to where it needs to be! I vote for putting it on higher end cameras as well.

   I've been hoping that Nikon would put their flip/rotate screen on something in the D7x00 class camera. I'd buy one immediately. (problem with technology is that it compounds the GAS problem).

I have a terrible case of GAS but am resisting with all of my might!
Hope that I won't buy a new camera until one of the two I now have breaks.
Pray with me that one of the two I now have breaks soon!

I read about 'GAS' before, here in the forum for the first time a few days ago. And just like then, I didn't know what it meant than and I still don't know what it means now. Without making me feel too bad. . . can someone please let me know what GAS stands for (I know it can't mean what I am thinking

Danny, looks like you're taking all the right medications!
But, you're having some side effects! IMO only, get rid of that 5100 before its completely worthless. Use the money to get a lens, or other accessory that is usefull. I'll suggest a flash, remote trigger or ND filter/s, but get rid of the old anchor!!

I keep my D5100 to shoot through my telescope, as I can focus better with fold out screen... or that's my excuse anyhow.

I thought I had my G.A.S. under control until I went searching for printers. I just received my Epson 3880 from B&H on Tuesday. Who knows what is next. It just happens so fast. Kinda like a snake bite but it doesn't hurt as much.

Amehta, thank you kind sir. I believe I will be able to sleep tonight.

But unbeknownst to me, until just now, I also suffer from G.A.S. (and to make matters worst, I didn't even know it).

Thank again 😄

Hi Sharpshooter,
- I'm guilty I have to admit: In the 22 months that I've had my Nikon D5100 I have been spending here & there on a few extras, sourcing them from UK, Capetown & the US: (adorama & B & H Photo Video).
At the time I acquired the 5100 I bought it as the body plus Sigma 18 - 250mm DC OS HSM Lens. I then added a Lowepro 190Aw shoulder bag, 2 of Nissin Di622 Mk2 Flash Guns, a Nikon 50mm f 1.8 lens, then a Sigma 10 - 20mm Lens, Nikon remote shutter release cable, plus some P sized square filters, . . . so the Lowepro 190 bag is quite full. . . . Thinking I might sell the D5100 in 8 months to a year - but cant decide if to go for the D5200 or the D5300 as, from the reviews it appears the D5300 is actually noisier at high ISOs. - Any advice here? I still want 1 of my DSLR's to have the Vari-angle screen, - ( which is the ONLY omission I'm not happy with Nikon about as regards the D7100).

Intending to keep the D5100 for a while longer, - until I decide to try & sell it tp upgrade to either the D5200 or the D5300: (I like having a DSLR with the Vari-Angle screen) . . . but cant decide WHICH one of the 2 to go for: - I like lots about the latest D5300 - except is seems to be noisier at high ISOs than the D5200.
. . . In the meantime once I have my mitts on the D7100 I know my dear lady wife would love to get more "hands-on" time with my D5100, as she only has a Sony bridge camera at present.

Yes, cant wait, - but of course I must.
Would you believe I actually have to ask a (very good)
photographer friend here on St. Helena to order the camera in his name - because he has resided in the UK a while & has a credit card. Once he gets his bank statement I make a transfer of funds from my account to his at our local bank. (Most of us living in St. Helena Island [in the South Atlantic] do NOT have credit cards).
My friend then has it delivered to an address on Ascension Island's US Base there - to another mutual friend who works there. That friend then sends the goods out to me onboard the ship that I work on when the ship calls at Ascension.
. . . so quite a bit of planning & teamwork needed to acquire the goods.

Yup, I'm suffering from this terrible affliction myself. I just placed my order for a canon 70-200 2.8 IS on Friday. Really second guessing my decision to not pay for expedited shipping now. Friday can't get here soon enough!!

I think you knew you suffered from it, but didn't know that it is an actual affliction and that others have it too.

It's kind of like the pre-teen who gets glasses or braces, is convinced that they are a freak, but then they go to school and seek that a bunch of other kinds have the same. It doesn't mean they feel normal, but at least they don't feel quite as alone.

Having two ways to send the hand-me-downs is a real convenient G.A.S. enabler!
