How long did you work with it? I know it's overwhelming. I put Photoshop aside many years ago the first time I opened it. I thought, "all this to adjust my photos?" . . . but then I eventually opened it again, read some tutorials (for which there are far too many available on the internet) and slowly got the hang of it. Someone mentioned in another post to start slowly and learn one thing. Start with exposure or levels, perhaps saturation or curves. Move the sliders just a little and see what they do. Typically, starting with levels and saturation can be the beginning of improvement; just remember . . . baby steps. Nothing (not even the free and easy stuff - including "one-click" processing) is going to be a fast learn until you learn what you are doing to begin with. If you'd like, I'd even try to give you a one on one. Sometimes that's more helpful than books when you don't even know what they're talking about. Let me know.

I've did this all with a pen and brush, just think if you had to do it that way. If you like redoing photos photoshop is the way to go. I been in tthe art field for over 60 years I'm 71 and learning ever day. Do what you would love to do not make a job of it. PASS IT ON

I purchased PSE9 on sale on Amazon a couple of months ago for $80 plus $20 rebate.

I came from (old) PaintShop Pro and generic Irfranview and was so completely overwhelmed that I was ready to give up, too.

I asked on another forum for PSE9 book(s) for beginners. The resounding recommendation was for Brundage's PSE9 version of The Missing Manual and I have not regretted one penney. Besides the very good presentation and explanations the screenshots are excellent!!! Even my tried old eyes can differentiate between side-by-side examples/comparisons.

Try your local library to see if they have a copy of this book. My library only had PSE8; I borrowed it, started reading, and ordered the PSE9 version the same day.

PSE10 The Missing Manual (http://su.pr/2abAh3) is $28.50 on Amazon with FREE shipping. I ordered my book on Jan 9th and had it on Jan 11th. :D

Hang in there. It *does* get better. :)

I was lucky to get a book for my cs3 by dDeke McClelland. Excellent but no cd. I live very remote and do not have access to stores etc but have easy use of the internet. Can anyone help me down load the cd that should be with the book, Photoshop CS3 one-on-one. I will not give up as I have time galore but it would be a tremendous help. No shops in Dalat, Vietnam where I have lived for the past 7+ years.

Guess you aren't in hiding anymore right ?

Dalat is a beautiful area. I spent 6 1/2 years in the Mekong Delta in the Can Tho, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau area.
