A little time to kill so I got the cats to be still for a fet shots. Look pretty good, what do you think?

What kind of camera did you use? Pictures are nice. If you are using a DSLR I would shot at F 16 or F22 and you would get more depth of field. This would make the pictures a little sharper if this is what you want.

Go to your settings and go to aperture priority and set the camera at F-22 and see what shutter speed the camera recommends. If the shutter speed is less than 1/60th of a second knock your ISO up until you get 1/60th of second. On your dial you should see a setting that says AV which means aperture value. Look in your manual and it should explain this to you. Every time you double your ISO your shutter speed move up 1 stop. If you are at ISO 100 at a 30th and you go to ISO 200 you can shoot at a 60th.

I am impressed not only with the shots but by tthe fact you got the cats to sit still. Whats your decret? Mine are basically the tazmanian devil when awake :-D Here are a few of my cat shots. Gotta love those furry guys.

Gotta go with #1, the second one seems a lttle out of focus and I would suggest a little lower perspective and maybe a different background. Cats seem to be tricky in that they seem to know when you grab the camera. I once followed our Zorro around the house 4 times before I finally gave up 'til another day. We have a constant parade through our house - I have include just a few. Thanks for sharing

Yes - they can be imps, but they they also can be pretty darn cute, pretty scarce, kinda of a pain, and any thing else you can think of. To me that is what makes them so endearing - you never know how they will be the next moment. Enjoy the day & your animals, neither last forever.

Not a cat really :?: I just figured it was a cat wearing a swan disguise. Tricky little buggers aren't they?. Just how many kittys do you have? All your shots seem to be of different cats. By the way your location says the midwest. Just where in the midwest? I was raised in Michigan . Freindliest people in the world are midwesterners. Also we have our heads on straight unlike our left coast and east coast brethern. Best of all we don't have horrible accents. Well except for Minnesota you becha!

Well - I have not checked of late but I believe 5 cats actually reside here. We do get a few from the hood that stop by on a regular route to see what is being offered for food and we also work with an animal welfare group that always has more cats & dogs then homes. If you would like some let me know. I am from a state that many like to get through quickly - Nebraska. And yes more then not I like this part of the country although we seemed to have our share of weird weather this summer, but then most seem to had. Enjoy the day. I added the two best dogs in the world - we lost them both last year at the age of 14 - in many ways they were the best of me.

Pet red eye, or green eye or two color eye is always a trouble spot. Shooting with background lighting, no flash, 1/60 sec, F-number to match your desired DOF and ISO to make it all work can help.

I like the top shot, pretty nice. Depth of field is very good in that picture.
The bottom shot, lighting needs to be adjusted. Looks like a lamp or sunlight coming from the top left. For me detracts from the picture.

Composition, Composition, Try not to cut the ears off. Use the thirds method and also set your aperture a bit larger to get more of the subject in focus. Also your flash should be off camera for a better lighting as you will be able to add light where you need it.
