Someone has a thread going.
Someone adds a post that includes an image.

I would like to comment about that image and include the image in my post so one does not have to jump between posts to follow my comments and look at the image on a previous post under the same thread.

I'm not getting/understanding how to do that........
I have used the "Reply" and "Quote Reply" buttons and the image did not transfer to my post.

Can someone please help?
Thanks!
Pat

Hmm. That's an interesting use-case. I'm surprised no one mentioned it before.

Right now, there is no way to include another user's attachment in a reply. But I'll look into it. Not sure if it would be possible to implement this feature though.

Someone will post an image. It is posted as thumbnail, I think. I know it does not say, "download" under the original image.

Someone else will come along and ask if they can work on the image.

Permission is granted.

Images is tweeked and reposted in a follow up post.

That is what I'm asking about.

In thinking about this more, (now, there's an issue)
I think the original image is copied and saved on the computer. It is reworked and then reposted (uploaded).

I don't see a way to add an image when reposting.

I see this done, often.

Why would you not be able to save the image to your "My Pictures" or "My Documents" or whatever, and then just upload it with your new post? Seems like that would work.

In another thread, titled "52 Weeks = 52 Pics Week #11 Challenge", I posted the following image. I included it here by right-clicking on the image in the other thread and copying its URL:
I then pasted the URL into this post and enclosed it in "img" tags. This allows the image to be re-displayed without actually uploading an additional copy.

Perhaps there is some way you could simplify this task for the less web-savvy among us.

3Dean,
I tried to repost your image.
Below, I tried to add image tags and this is what I got.
I right clicked on your image and copied and pasted below. I added in the front and to the rear.

Looking at what I posted and what has shown up above is not the same.

I tried to type out the img tag and it won't show it here. I guess it is a command that does action instead of showing up in type.

Help!
Pat

Trying "Save image as . . ." and selecting that file name with the "Choose file" option under the Reply box. Let's see what I got.

im pretty sure it depends on the original poster as some EMBED the pic...MWAC does it ...but I find it annoying quite frankly to see the same pic come up and take up space in the post over and over so when it happens I delete the pic.
3dean...that is a pretty cool image.
Jay Pat. remember though that there is a rule about downloading peoples pics especially if you want to change it....do what you gotta do...im just finding it amusing that you would want to do something I dont.
But thats just me...I get itchy with all the quote replys too...to each his own...that is what I say..

rivernan, your right!
I wanted to include an image to talk about it (easy reference). Not change it. I was wanting to save anyone interested, the trouble of having to jump back & forth from my comments and to the original image.
I don't know if that usage is a rule breaker or not. Maybe, I need to go and reread the rules....

Ok, I just reread the Rules and the the third sentance says I need permission to repost and image....I need to ask first.

Thank you for bringing this up! I don't want to irritate anyone.

I embed only because I regain control of the image (if I deleted it from my flickr thread, it then will be deleted from all posts within UHH). Also I don't like the idea of uploading my images and having them saved on the UHH server. I'm a control freak that way. :)

MWAC...I have a special file I started since I got some help here. I resize to 12% almost all of my images that I post here making them kinda useless to anyone I HOPE. Of course the original is maintained in its original file.

I like the idea of being able to remove them if I so desire. If you use the upload feature here on UHH, after 1 hour you can not remove any of your images. With embeding since it is a url link, if I remove the picture from where the URL is pointing, it will simply show flickr warning saying "this image is no longer availalbe".

I'm a control freak. :)

Jay,
Just to make sure that my method will work with someone else's image, I'm linking to one of yours from another thread. If it works for me, then it should have worked for you.
If it doesn't work, then perhaps a user cannot link to another user's image.

As a side note: The way that you and Bob Powell reposted my image require that you first save it locally to your computer, then re-upload it to the forum. So, now there are three separate copies of this image on the forum. My method links to the originally posted image and does not duplicate the file.
Also note that images that are posted via a link, appear left justified on the forum page, while uploaded images appear center justified.

(The link was successful)
